Pacific Food at 10703 Vanowen St in North Hollywood is a practical stop for anyone looking to shop for Eastern European and Armenian groceries without leaving L.A. The store operates more like a no-frills warehouse than a boutique market, with essentials neatly arranged on metal shelving that emphasize utility over style.

The layout can feel a bit confusing at first, especially since the main entrance is tucked away behind the building, requiring a quick walk from the parking lot. But once inside, shoppers find a solid selection ranging from Russian staples like grechka and frozen pelmeni (dumplings) to specialty Armenian items such as basturma. A noticeable highlight is the dedicated meat market area in the back, which offers fresh cuts aligning with the tastes of the local Eastern European community.

Pacific Food stands out for its broad range of imported snacks and sweets—large displays of chocolates, candies, and other treats add a colorful contrast to the industrial, practical setting. The produce and fruit section is modest but serviceable, catering to those who want to grab fresh ingredients along with their specialty finds.

This place particularly suits shoppers who come prepared to explore international ingredients for home cooking or who want an affordable source for specific Russian and Armenian groceries. The staff communicates with a helpful, informed approach, matching the experience to what regulars appreciate: selection matched with straightforward service. While some shoppers mention a more polished experience on the East Coast, Pacific Food offers a distinctly utilitarian taste of North Hollywood’s multicultural grocery scene.

Visiting during weekdays or early afternoons may be easier for navigating the aisles without rush, and parking is generally available but requires some patience. Overall, Pacific Food is functional and dependable for those hunting down Eastern European flavors locally, bringing a slice of neighborhood authenticity to a busy L.A. stretch.

Great selection of all kinds of foods, from authentic Amenian basturma, to Russian grechka, to premium Belgian chocolates. Friendly and knowledgeable customer service. Always leaving with full bags!

The place to go for a nice mix of Russian, Polish and Armenian groceries. LOTS of alcohols. Very good Meat market in the rear as a separate room. Decent fruit and vegetable selection.

Great variety of Eastern European foods in a warehouse like setting. The place is hard to spot from the road. Park and head to back for main entrance. Place is okay for the West Coast, but east coast places like net cost and Tashkent supermarket are several notches above.

Great place for different kinds of Russian food. They have prepared food and refrigerated food as well. They also have fresh fruits and vegetables. They have a huge selection of candies, chocolate, sweets, etc. This is also the best place I found to buy Russian dumplings for the cheapest price. The staff is nice and the selection is big of many different things but with more focus on Russian tastes.

Great place for Russian food among other international food and drink. Store format is simple with metal shelving with decent labels. The place is a little awkward to find the entrance and to walk around part of the building from the parking lot, but not terrible.

Cool store. It’s a big warehouse/costco style market with a separate meat and bakery section. It’s filled with tons of imported goods AND tons of alcohol which was really unique. Huge selection of really exotic Armenian, Mexican, Russian/Ukrainian wines and spirits and even beers. Nice freezer section too. Produce was priced really cheap too. Only bad thing I’ll say is the entrance is hard to find and you need to watch out because some imported goods may be close to their ‘best by date’ (not to be confused with their manufactured date). Overall, 5/5 store I’ll definitely be back

A great place to find many eastern European, Armenian and Russian grocery items. Large selection of beer, liquor and other items as well as fresh bread (still warm if you get there at the right time).
